Campaign Intern
The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) seeks one or more interns to assist and focus on Campaign and PR work. This position is unpaid and requires a minimum of a one day per week commitment.

The ideal candidate is one who is enthusiastic about bicycling and seeks Campaign development experience. Candidates should be organized, self-motivated, be creative and think outside the box, ability to write, network, and want to work in a fun and fast paced environment. You will be working on cultivating relationships with businesses, media, community members and helping to organize campaign events. LACBC City of Lights Intern
Looking for intern to help with Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition’s City of Lights Program, which conducts advocacy and safe riding outreach campaigns to Latino cyclists in the Macarthur Park area. Ideal candidate would be self-motivated and yet also be willing to collaborate. The goal of the program is to use bicycle transportation to leverage social equity for the Latino cycling community.

Need someone to help with various tasks: some admin (such as quarterly reports and emails/calls), some community outreach, and some research (grants and academic articles), and most importantly-be a Spanish speaker! Hours are flexible, though we are looking for someone to work 8-10 hours a week. Events and meetings vary weekly, so you can work from home on many things. Media Intern
The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) seeks one or more interns to assist and focus on developing our blog and online presence. This position is unpaid and requires a minimum of a one day per week commitment.

The ideal candidate is one who is enthusiastic about bicycling and seeks journalism and blog writing experience. Candidates should have strong ability to write, be organized, self-motivated, have some time to attend important meetings, and want to work in a fun and fast paced environment. LA COUNTY BICYCLE COALITION IS LOOKING FOR INTERNS!

See below for intern/volunteer job descriptions.

We want to partner with all LA-area college students, including community colleges, CSUs and UCs! Learn about bicycle advocacy and planning and obtain valuable hands-on experience. The internships are unpaid, but students can obtain school credit.

1. Web Development Intern
The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) seeks three interns to assist in our transition to a new website and internet-based database system. This position is unpaid and requires a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week. Work may be completed remotely, though the intern will be required to come to our Downtown LA office for project status meetings once per week.

Position Summary:
Interns will work with a development consultant on either of two projects:

1) WordPress CMS development – The intern will develop a custom content management system on top of an existing WordPress website platform, configuring the base system, coding new PHP modules, and theming the site using XHTML and CSS.

2) Salesforce database development – The intern will import existing data into a Salesforce.com database, configure the database for use by various stakeholders within the LACBC, and program custom interfaces to Salesforce using its web API.

Candidates should have some experience coding PHP and some familiarity with database concepts, or similar rudimentary programming experience and a willingness to learn new technologies.

2. Special Events Intern
The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) is seeking an intern to assist the Special Events Coordinator with weekly office duties. This position is unpaid and is flexible, with 5-10 hours per week required.

Position Summary:
The ideal candidate is one who is enthusiastic about bicycling and seeks nonprofit event coordinating experience. Candidates should be organized, self-motivated, have a strong ability to write and want to work in a fun, social, and fast paced environment. You will be working on the River Ride and other monthly bike events (check http://www.la-bike.org for more info about our organization), helping with office duties, editing, data entry, gathering sponsorships and coordinating volunteers.

INTERNSHIP OPENING: PLANNING AND POLICY INTERN

Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) is seeking highly motivated individuals for a variety of bicycle infrastructure planning efforts. LACBC is a membership based advocacy organization working to improve the bicycling environment and quality of life in Los Angeles County.

Major tasks include assisting with:

* Implementing Metro and LACBC project developing six non-motorized access plans at transit hubs in Metropolitan Los Angeles serving low-income households.
* Bicycle and pedestrian field audits of six transit hubs throughout Metropolitan Los Angeles
* Developing six Concept Access Plans that details existing conditions and recommendations
* Facilitating and organizing two rounds of six stakeholder meetings for community input
* Writing a final report summarizing existing conditions, recommendations and future improvement.
