In our build up to LACBC’s 10th annual LA River Ride—our biggest event of the year, and one of the best ways to support LACBC and bicycling in Los Angeles—we’ve partnered with several other bike related events to publicize our happening and ultimately move forward our shared goal of celebrating bicycling.  Above all other events is truly the Amgen Tour of California.

As the largest cycling event in America , the 2010 Amgen Tour of California is a Tour de France-style cycling road race that challenges the world’s top professional cycling teams to compete along a demanding course throughout California from May 16 to the 23rd.

Founded in 2005 by Amgen,  one of the many objectives of the Tour is the Breakaway from Cancer® initiative, a national effort to increase awareness of the important resources available to people affected by cancer, from prevention to survivorship. The initiative supports the valuable education, advocacy, and support resources offered by the Prevent Cancer Foundation, Cancer Support Community, Patient Advocate Foundation and National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship.

At the finish line of the Los Angeles stage will be the MBT Lifestyle Festival which the Tour is touting as “the place to be for all cycling enthusiasts;”

The festival will feature a health & fitness expo, cancer awareness education, cycling gear, family activities, bike safety, food, entertainment and more!
