Ballona Creek is part of the creeks, waterways, washes, arroyos and rivers of LA County purview

LA County Department of Public Works is just beginning its Bicycle Master Plan process for unincorporated County areas and right of ways for the creeks, waterways, washes, arroyos and rivers in LA County.  The goals of this plan are to improve and increase the bicycle paths around the county as well as look at inter-jurisdictional connectivity issues, which mean trying to close the gaps between cities.

This is a very important plan for the unincorporated county areas, like Marina del Rey, Dominguez Hills, Baldwin Hills and others.  It is also the first bicycle master plan the County since 1975.  Considering the many cities in LA County that have finished or are finishing bicycle plans of their own, this poses an incredible opportunity to have the various efforts complement and work synergistically with each other.

The initial public outreach for the project is just beginning and meetings have already been held, continuing in March.  Please click on this link for the schedules.  The next one is :

March 10, 2010
