LACBC’s Bike Powered Bike Valet

This Monday the LACBC was part of the bicycle performance piece Eine Brise performed as just one part of an all night tribute to Argentine-German artist Mauricio Kagel at the Colburn School in Dowtown Los Angeles. The Facebook page for the event has some great photos and the ride received coverage in the Times. In our opinion, never have we experienced more anticipation than when we could hear the bells of 111 bicycles growing ever so slightly in the distance–Kagel apparently knew something of the Doppler Effect.
LACBC was valeting bikes for the event, and Monday was the first time we had transported our bike valet equipment entirely by bicycle. Thanks to Woodsin Sandburg for his ingenious ladder trailers and his strong knees, and to Joe Linton for snapping these photos. We’ll be running the bike valet at this Saturday’s Chinatown Firecracker Run and Ride.

Actually the bike valet equip was hauled by bike for the first time on Oct. 24, 2009 by the LA Greensters from LA Eco Village to Manhattan Beach. See the video at http://lagreensters.com/pastevents.html.
