Let us say how super innovative this plan was–really good stuff! It would have made Pasadena and LA blush! Lots of bike paths (yes, Class 1!) were proposed and high interconnectivity especially between the Downtown Burbank Metrolink Station and retail and schools. They briefly discussed that they will be having a LBC style Bikestation debut at the Metrolink Station next spring. There was about 25 people, at the Burbank Community Services Building on 10.01.

The planners, Cory Wilkerson and his boss, David Kriske, plan to submit it for adoption before Burbank City Council the first or second week of December. In the meanwhile, they said, all phone and email comments are welcome. People can see the maps and plan (and as a high quality PDF) online at burbankbike.org as well.

They absolutely need more people to attend meetings, and let their voices be known, because there are a lot of drivers in Burbank who often outnumber cyclists and derail plans at public hearing meetings. This happened at the last meeting they did to show the plan off last October.

Upcoming meetings include 10.12 to review the Verdugo Ave. bike blvd. proposal (mainly with residents along that corridor, but others can weigh in too) at the Buena Vista Library in Burbank  (For those that are interested, email Cory for the time–CWilkerson@ci.burbank.ca.us) and the Traffic Commission, which consists mostly of traffic engineers, but still important to speak at, on 10.22 at 4pm in the council chambers.
